About Us

Welcome To AHCA

AHCA offers specialized valuations and appraisals for various healthcare organizations, including hospitals, clinics, physician practices, etc. Our team comprises highly qualified specialists with extensive expertise in this field. Our unparalleled background and experience in the hospital sector set us apart from others in the industry.

Before 1992, accessing specialist-level appraisal or valuation services for hospitals, clinics, physician practices, and other healthcare organizations was exceedingly challenging for healthcare organizations, lenders, and legal firms. Recognizing this need, American Healthcare Appraisal (AHCA) was founded in 1992 to deliver precise and genuinely insightful valuations for healthcare organizations and businesses. Our principals came from hospital operations and, armed with valuation backgrounds, founded the organization.

 A Recognized Industry Leader

In 1997, Bruce Krider, the President of our organization, authored “Valuation of Physician Practices and Clinics,” published by Aspen Publishers. This work quickly gained recognition and became a highly regarded resource in the field of medical appraisal. In addition, Mr Krider has contributed numerous journal articles to various appraisal associations, medical societies, and legal briefs, further establishing his expertise and knowledge in the field.

Appraisers and Consultants

What distinguishes us from other healthcare appraisers? We go beyond providing a fair market value, as more detail is needed to make well-informed decisions. As appraisers and consultants specializing in hospital management and finance, we offer a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare industry, drawing from our extensive insider experience.

Our expertise stems from years of firsthand involvement in various healthcare roles, including:

  • Hospital CEOs
  • Hospital financial consultants
  • Hospital board system strategic planning committees
  • Hospital trustees responsible for significant capital investments

Our deep understanding of the healthcare marketplace, which is at the core of determining “value,” sets us apart. Furthermore, we can identify and articulate the intrinsic or strategic value specific to the healthcare industry—an aspect not readily grasped by those lacking professional experience in this niche. For instance, we can assess the significance of a potential acquirer’s offer for your hospital as they seek to expand their ACO strategy within the context of access. We consider alternative options and evaluate whether the request is fair. Similarly, we can assist hospitals in determining the value of clinics or hospitals in light of the Affordable Care Act. Our reports delve into intricate details and address issues that lay appraisers are often unaware of.

This oversight means that our extensive background in healthcare, combined with our specialization in hospital appraisals, enables us to effectively collaborate with hospital committees, boards, administrators, and other stakeholders. We ensure they receive the necessary answers and gain a thorough understanding of factors influencing their strategic capital planning decisions. Our appraisal and valuation discussions transcend conventional approaches because we comprehend the intricacies of the marketplace. Unlike appraisers who evaluate diverse businesses such as flower shops or gas stations, our expertise is tailored specifically to the healthcare sector.

Meeting a Specific Need with Specific Skills and Experience

Having a specialization is crucial to high-level analysis. It’s like how you wouldn’t seek advice from a general practitioner for heart surgery, and it’s equally irrational to rely on general appraisers when evaluating your organization or potential mergers and acquisitions. Regarding healthcare appraisals, our staff with hospital management experience can best communicate to the administration and board how the hospital’s mission and objectives. By focusing solely on the healthcare sector, we deeply understand the intricacies and unique aspects of appraising healthcare organizations. This specialized approach allows us to provide comprehensive and insightful valuations that account for the specific considerations and dynamics of the healthcare industry.
